Mother Earth and nature always give and inspire creative activities, and concoctions that are produced with vitalizing thoughts and intentions using the gifts from mother nature is by far superior compared to isolated, synthetic, and human-made compounds. Everything that we desire, we can obtain naturally given the acquired wisdom and intelligence to harvest, prepare, combine, store, and use the ingredients to boost our vitality and health.

Detox Concoction: DIY Magnesium Oilbeach waves.jpeg
Source of Inspiration: Sea Water, especially on a sunny day where hours can be spent swimming, surfing, wave jumping in beautiful turquoise water.
Supplies needed: Magnesium chloride flakes, distilled water, stove, glass jar or beaker, and spray bottle.
Directions: Combine equal parts of magnesium chloride flakes and distilled water in a clean and sanitized glass beaker or glass jar, and place on the stove to heat at very low temperature until the magnesium chloride flakes completely dissolve with frequent agitation. This is the magnesium oil. Allow the solution to cool before transfer to the spray bottle of your choice. Spritz frequently and daily, give yourself a nice self-massage while at it, and enjoy connecting with the waves while your skin absorbs this mighty and magnificent mineral that is so desperately needed!
Tips: Use a glass spray bottle. Or a thicker or more potent magnesium oil, use 40% purified or distilled water with 60% magnesium chloride flakes.

Detox Concoction: Herbal Hair Rinse
herbal tea on wooden table.jpegSource of Inspiration: The plant kingdom of resourceful herbs, and an idea while sipping my own blend of organic detox herbal tea.
Supplies needed: A mix of 3-5 organic herbs such as rosemary, lavender, calendula, nettle, burdock root, dandelion root, oregano; boiled purified water; a French press or a glass tea kettle with a strainer; a glass measuring cup; an old bottle of shampoo or hydrogen peroxide bottle that has been emptied, cleaned, and dried; a couple drops of rosemary essential oil.
Directions: Boil your selected mix of herbs as you would with making herbal tea, except using less water to make this a more concentrated herbal water solution. Once the water boils, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cover with a lid to allow steep for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid into a glass measuring cup and allow the temperature to cool for about 10 minutes before adding rosemary essential oil. Pour into dispenser bottle, close the lid tightly and shake it to make sure it’s thoroughly mixed. Use this hair rinse in place of conventional hair conditioner within 5-7 days.
Tips: Do not make a large portion since no preservatives are used. Should preservatives be desired for slightly longer shelf life, add food grade citric acid and potassium sorbate to stabilize. Organic apple cider vinegar may also be added; I choose not to because I do not prefer the smell, although it does feel nice for the scalp and hair.

Detox Craft Project: Herbal Dreamy Pillow
cat under covers on bed.jpeg
Source of Inspiration: Very fragrant herbs that do not taste really good as a herbal tea unless a bunch of raw honey is added; I thought there had to be a better way of utilizing and enjoying fragrant herbs.
Supplies needed: A mix of fragrant organic dried herbs such as thyme, mugwort, honeysuckle, holy basil, mint, and chamomile; 1/2 cup of whole flaxseeds; organic essential oils if enhancement desired (optional); favorite scrap cloth and sewing machine (if sewing skills have not yet manifested or you simply do not have the time to sew by machine or hand, I would suggest using a large pre-made muslin cloth bag with draw strings at the top to seal the dream herbs).
Directions: Combine the herbs and any essential oils if using into a large glass or wooden bowl. Gently rub and crush the herbs to activate their aroma as you mix them with clean or gloved hands. Add the flaxseeds to the mix and try to evenly disperse this. Sew the scrap cloths on 3 sides, leaving one side open. Turn it inside out and fill the “pocket” with the herb mix. Sew it up and slip this dream pillow into your pillow case to enjoy the herbal fragrance and calming energy throughout the night.
Tips: If the dream pillow no longer produces an adequately potent fragrance, pop it into your laundry dryer and use it as a herbal sachet for a few times before cutting it open to compost the content.

Stay tuned for future detox concoctions!
